"What the Evening Remembers" by Susan Auriemma
The photography measures 11 x 14 in a 16 x 20 frame
What the Evening Remembers is a meditation on movement and memory, captured in the quiet hush of a Lower Manhattan evening. Using a long exposure technique, this image slows time itself—transforming the rush of ships and the blur of passing planes into soft, ghostlike traces. In contrast to the ever-moving city, the skyline stands still, reflective and observant, like a witness to the day's fading light. This photograph doesn’t just record what is seen—it holds onto what the evening remembers: motion, stillness, and the delicate passage between them.
This photograph was donated by the very talented Sue Auriemma, a long time KACS volunteer and parent advocate and internationally renowned photographer in honor of her daughter Kate who survived after Sue backed over her at age 3.
